Am I the only person who is not offended when a cell phone rings or when a
student leaves class for a few minutes? Are we Tiger Woods standing over a
2 foot putt at the Master's? Is it really that big of a distraction? When
these things happen in my class I simply ignore it and continue teaching.
If it happened consistently (and it never has) then I would talk to the
student after class rather than embarrassing them in front of the whole
class (or calling security!).
