Dear Colleague, I am writing to invite you, your students, and your colleagues to the Second Annual Finger Lakes Undergraduate Psychology Conference (FLUPC) to be held on April 13, 2002 at Syracuse University. We are pleased to announce that Dr. William Buskist, the Kulynych / Cline Family Distinguished Professor for the Teaching of Psychology at Appalachian State University will provide the keynote address for the conference.
My colleagues and I held the First Annual FLUPC last year to better prepare our students for futures in Psychology, to get them involved in our field as developing professionals, and to showcase their scholarship. We hoped to offer these opportunities to all Psychology students in the Finger Lakes / Central New York area by holding a local, accessible conference featuring exclusively the work of undergraduates. Last year's conference was a huge success, and I am pleased to announce that this year's conference will be held at Syracuse University. On behalf of the FLUPC organizing committee, comprised of faculty and staff from Syracuse University, SUNY Cortland, and Colgate University, we would like to welcome your department's participation in this conference. Please help us spread the word about this conference by announcing it to Psychology faculty and students at your school. Please encourage your students to submit their projects: we are accepting proposals for oral presentations and posters on students' completed research projects, research proposals, theoretical/literature review papers, theses, and even particularly good term papers. We intend this to be a supportive environment in which students can feel confident presenting their work at an appropriate level. In addition, we will be offering $50 cash prizes to the top presentations. We would also like to offer your department an opportunity to help sponsor the conference. For a donation of $50 we will feature your college or department's name on our list of sponsors, thank you heartily at our awards ceremony, and offer an opportunity for your college's admissions department to display or submit informational materials about your college and Psychology program at the conference. If you are interested in sponsorship, please contact Mikki Jeschke, the conference coordinator at Syracuse University, at [EMAIL PROTECTED] The Call for Papers/Posters and a Registration Form as wel as additional information about the conference can be found at our website, www.flupc.org. The success of the Finger Lakes Undergraduate Psychology Conference depends on you. Thank you in advance for encouraging your students to present and your faculty to attend and for supporting excellence in undergraduate education. Please feel free to contact me or Mikki Jeschke ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) if you have any questions. Sincerely, Betsy Meinz, Ph.D. Assistant Professor of Psychology, SUNY Cortland [EMAIL PROTECTED] --- You are currently subscribed to tips as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
