I am teaching the second semester of a Stats/Research Design sequence.
In the first semester, the students designed and administered a survey,
and in the beginning part of this semester, they conducted a
naturalistic observation. We are now beginning the experimental portion
of the class, and the students (in small groups) must design and conduct
a simple experiment in which they manipulate the IV. It doesn't have to
be groundbreaking--not even original--but I want it to be a true
experiment, not comparative differences of pre-established groups. I
was wondering if anyone out there might have some ideas of what would be
appropriate (and reasonable) for students at a small college to do. Or,
are there resources out there that might be helpful? Thanks in advance!
