After reading the Chronical article referenced below, I can only shake 
my head in dismay.  Howard Gardner appears to be one who has developed 
expertise in one area (ed psyc in a school of education), took a glance 
at an unfamiliar (to him) specialty--Industrial/Organizational 
Psychology--and now feels competent to pronounce judgment on that 
unfamiliar specialty.  He reminds me of the various writers from the 
"hard" sciences who have written popular books passing judgment on our 
measures of cognitive ability.  They simply look naive and arrogant to me.
