(315) 312 3474 The American Journal of Undergraduate Research (AJUR)
is a new quarterly journal designed as a place for undergraduates in all areas of science, math and
technology to publish their research.
It is expected that the lead author be an undergraduate at the time the work was completed
although all authors do not need to be undergraduates. Empirical studies in all areas of psychology will be considered for
publication. It is expected that at least one article from the
discipline be included each year, although certainly more will be
welcomed. If you have students who have completed a research project,
please urge them to consider publishing their work in
AJUR. A submission to AJUR will provide an undergraduate with the experience of all aspects of publishing their work
beginning with the original submission of the manuscript, a review by professionals and academics working in their area,
and revision and preparation of the final manuscript. All authors will receive a free copy of the issue of AJUR in which they
publish. As this is a new journal with its first issue slated to be
published June 1, 2002 there are no sample articles. Paper guidelines: 1. Articles should be fairly short (12 pages
excluding references), although longer papers will be considered. It is expected that a paper be comprised of a single study rather than
multiple experiments. 2. Replications will be considered for publication,
although preference will be for original research. 3. Figures need to be gray scale or black and white,
and preferably electronic versions of all figures should accompany
the paper.
Please limit the use of figures and tables to when they are absolutely necessary. 4. American Psychological Association guidelines for
ethical treatment of human and animal subjects must be followed for all research. A statement to that effect must be included
in the submission letter. (please see APA’s website for this information). 5. APA style must be followed. The following must be included with all submissions: 1. A printed copy of the paper. Please do not include
authors’ names on the paper other than on the title page. 2. An indication of what area of psychology the research
best fits (eg developmental psychology, social psychology,
learning, biopsychology). 3. Names of potential reviewers if any. 4. An electronic copy of the paper, either as an
e-mail attachment or as a diskette enclosed with the printed paper. Be sure
that the disk is clearly labeled with the lead author’s
name and the title of the submission. 5. A letter of submission providing the following
information: a. Names and addresses for all authors. Be sure to choose an address that will be valid for at least 3-5 weeks following submission of the paper. (For example, papers submitted at the end of the academic year should include the summer address). b. A valid e-mail address for all authors c. An indication of the person to whom correspondence
should be addressed (as the mission of the AJUR is to provide
the students with the experience of publishing their work
from start to finish, the lead student author should be the
corresponding author). d. A list of the number of pages, figures and tables Submissions can be sent either to: Leah E. Adams-Curtis, Ph.D. Regional Editor: Psychology, American Journal of
