I do a demonstration in class on rehearsal and memory that works pretty well, especially is the class is fairly large. I just ask the class to write down all the gifts in the song the Twelve days of Christmas. the first gift is repeated 12 times, the 2nd is repeated 11 and so on. There is a neat decline in the curve as we go from one to twelve. The exception is the fifth gift, which people remember very well. The fifth gift is sung differently--the note is held for a long period of time. We discuss that, too. Paul
