Remember the incredible case of the woman who became pregnant,
and then was found to be also carrying triplets due three months
later?

Remember that I wrote to the journalist and expressed serious
concern that it was a hoax? And that the journalist at Ananova,
Steve Laws reassuringly replied (Nov 13, 2001):

"The story you refer to is certainly amazing, which is why we
checked it out with experts and confirmed to our own satisfaction
that the condition was possible...the couple have now agreed to
be named and interviewed on Italian TV."

"I'm not sure how much extra proof you require. Both the stories
we have published quote respected doctors in Italy who are happy
to go on the record explaining what the situation is and how the
condition arose."

"The Daily Mail, which has attribution in the second Ananova
story, is a respected national UK newspaper selling five million
copies a day. The story was also reported on the same day by BBC
Radio Five Live, who spoke to a UK gynaecologist who explained
that while he had never heard of the condition in humans it does
happen rarely in some other species".

Turns out it's a hoax, after all. Sigh!
