It has been argued that some populations, including those
of house mice, have been inbreeding for so long that any recessive lethals have
been removed from the gene pool, making inbreeding not such a bad thing -- and
on the positive side, inbreeding does avoid problems associated with breaking up
coadapted gene complexes.
