d)other
I'd think they had more to tell me. Things like....
- I've fallen in love and been too happy to think about school work.
- My family is falling apart and it has taken precedence.
- I've been too ill (or too depressed) (or having panic attacks) (or I've in
love but I've been rejected and I've too despondent) to think about school
work.
- I signed up in your course thinking it would be interesting and fun, but
it's not. I haven't been able to force myself to do this drudgery until
now.
- Your course is ok, but I'm just not interested. I've spent all this money
and if I can just get a pass I'll be satisfied.
- I've made a big mistake by letting things slide, but now I'm trying to get
my life back on track.
