Things like.... - I've fallen in love and been too happy to think about school work. - My family is falling apart and it has taken precedence. - I've been too ill (or too depressed) (or having panic attacks) (or I've in love but I've been rejected and I've too despondent) to think about school work. - I signed up in your course thinking it would be interesting and fun, but it's not. I haven't been able to force myself to do this drudgery until now. - Your course is ok, but I'm just not interested. I've spent all this money and if I can just get a pass I'll be satisfied. - I've made a big mistake by letting things slide, but now I'm trying to get my life back on track. J. D.
