Hello friends,
A student posted a question to my discussion board, essentially asking why we
close our eyes when we sleep and what part of the brain is in charge of this.
If any of you bio mavens have the answer please let me know and also let me
know if it is OK for me to cut and paste your response to my Blackboard site.
Thanks kindly in advance for the help.

I don't have anything scientific for you, but when my sister was afraid of the dark
she slept with her eyes open. It was very odd and didn't last. She remembers making
a conscious descision to keep her eyes open so it wouldn't be dark.
BTW - I noticed on an earlier post that my quotations are not clear - I'm cutting and
pasting from a digest which may explain it.
Cheers
David
