Memory from a Broader Perspective by Hermann & Searlemann is more applied than theoretical as I also found Haberlandt's Human Memory text.
My problem is that we conceptualized our human memory course to be an option or alternative to a traditional cognitive psych course. So, I also cover the fundamentals of what is cognition and how and where does memory fit into the grand scheme of things. Then I focus on the memory related concepts with only a brief overview of other topics in cognition that don't have a direct bearing, i.e., problem solving, creativity, intelligence, decision making. So I need much more in the way of development of memory fundamentals, while providing that broad overview. Also I cannot assume that the students have had the cognition course so I am starting from scratch teaching everything related to memory. Hence my problem in settling on a text. I may go with readings.....maybe selected chapters from books. HERE IS THE NEW QUESTION: have any of you tipsters tried to make a custom text where you take chapters from one text and chapters from another text, both by the same publisher, and had them incorporated into a single 'book'???? I believe that in principle a publisher will do that (I'll be at WPA later this week and ask around) but now my task would be to find the books I want to combine :-) Annette Quoting Stuart Mckelvie <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > Dear Tipsters, > > Most of the discussion of cognitive/memory texts concern a basic > cognition course.
