This is *not* evidence of scientific illiteracy, provided it's not
accompanied by the claim that the belief is based on evidence.

Same goes for this one.

Welllll, for what it's worth, the Big Bang theory has been disputed on
nonreligious grounds (see _The Big Bang Never Happened_,
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/067974049X/).  I don't know
enough about astrophysics to evaluate the arguments.
