Is there a hint of prejudice against Christians here? Assuming that someone who is a
strongly believing Christian is ipso facto going to be in some way dishonest is as
ridiculous as assuming that women will be likely to be in some way dishonest. In fact
I would suggest (and I declare an interest here) that a strongly believing Christian
would be less likely to be misleading. Certainly I aspire not to be misleading
myself. Perhaps we can coin a term the term "intellectual ideas-centrism" - on the
other hand perhaps not :o)
BTW I do realise that Annette asked the question rather than leaping to conclusions
and that Beth's response resulted from actual research clearly set out - though you do
close Beth by suggesting that Christians are indeed like "the fundamentalist sects
which have done so much to scare America" (a suggestion that is both untrue and
offensive to me) and that there is an unwritten but almost universal rule the
Christians must distort things to promote their faith (a paraphrase of your final para
showing how I read it) which is again both untrue and offensive as the Chrisian
approach would be almost the exact
opposite.
