This email made me curious--how many of you offer majors/minors in
behavioral neuroscience? We are thinking about starting a minor (to begin
with) that would be an interdisciplinary program with the biology
department. We are a small liberal arts school (about 1500 students), so I
am particularly interested in programs offered in similar environments,
although I'd love to hear from everyone who has had experience with
behavioral neuroscience (or similar) programs. Thanks!

We have a major in psychobiology, and a student body of about 1500. If you check with the AND, they list about 30 undergraduate institutions with majors in neuroscience or psychobiology of some kind--these are only depts. registered with AND, however, which costs some $. We are not in there, for example, but have had this major since 1977. You can find more about it from this website:

BEHAVIORAL NEUROSCIENCE, GETTYSBURG COLLEGE. The Department of Psychology
invites applications for a one-year sabbatical replacement position at the
rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall, 2003. The successful candidate
should have a Ph.D. in psychology or neuroscience and will be expected to
teach courses in behavioral neuroscience and general psychology. The
position provides the opportunity to conduct a personal research program and
to supervise undergraduate research using a newly renovated research space
and animal facility. Gettysburg College is a highly selective liberal arts
college located within 90 minutes of the Washington/Baltimore metropolitan
area. Established in 1832, the College has a rich history and is situated
on a 220-acre campus with an enrollment of 2,400 students. Gettysburg
College is committed to creating a more diverse campus environment. As a
part of that process, the College gives strong consideration to candidates
from historically underrepresented groups. Included in an attractive
benefits package is a Partner Assistance Program. For best consideration,
application materials should be received by February 1, 2003. Send letter
of application describing teaching and research interests, curriculum vitae,
reprints/preprints, and three letters of recommendation to: Stephen M.
Siviy, Department of Psychology, Box 407, Gettysburg College, Gettysburg, PA
