Hello Tipsters:
Those of you who work at high schools and colleges with any population of disadvantaged or ethnic minority students may want to check out a recent Charlie Rose show, available for purchase on VHS.
It features an interview with Dr. Ben Carson, who overcame hardship (born and raised in inner city Detroit) to become an innovative pediatric neurosurgeon.
Footage of him and work is also available at the Discovery Channel's store "Understanding: The Amazing Brain" features a successful hemispherectomy; "Pediatric Brain Surgery" is a littl more difficult to watch (unsuccessful attempt to eliminate a child's brain tumor) but is inspiring nonetheless.
