Um, this is definitely not the kind of movie I want to see. But I
think I knew that already. However, I could see that students
studying the real Stanford prison experiment might find it
educational to reflect on the ways in which the film distorts the
truth (as does, for example, the much more uplifting film _A
Beautiful Mind_ also mentioned in the apa piece).

If you Americans want an alternative foreign film recommendation, I'd
suggest the joyous "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" . I know you think it
was pure Hollywood but actually it was all Canadian. Another great
foreign film, especially if you like themes involving cooking is
"Mostly Martha", a German film of a very different sort from "Das
Experiment". Not only does it have food but also family dynamics
involving a justifiably difficult child. So there's psychological
content as well. Oh, and it does have a psychotherapist.
