Dear TIPSters,
Knowing that some of you have well-developed departmental assessment
programs, I would really appreciate your comments/advice.
As part of our departmental assessment efforts, we plan to resume
collecting data from graduating seniors. The original plan calls for
questionnaires requesting information about student satisfaction with
faculty teaching styles and availability, with courses, with the
curriculum, and with other departmental offerings/services. Additionally, I
was considering having a colleague from another department conduct some
group interviews in which students were asked for the same kinds of feedback.
I have two major questions:
1) Is there any value added by having FTF interviews rather than just
collecting the questionnaire data? If so, how much additional time is
required for processing the student feedback?
2) Would any of you be willing to share the format or questions you use for
assessing student satisfaction with your departments, as well as your
impressions of how this should be done? I do have the APA assessment
cyberguide, but wanted your wisdom on this.
Thanks much!
Esther
