To all:

A colleague of mine posed the following questions which I could not answer. Therefore, I thought I would ask them of you.

1. Consider an individual in deep sleep and an individual under general anesthesia. How is the activity in their brains similar or different?
For instance, how would their EEG patterns compare?

2. An ancillary question would be:
        When an individual is anesthetized, does he/she dream? There have been anecdotal reports of patients being aware of what their surgeons are saying, but have there been more rigorous studies that have found evidence for mentation under general anesthetic?
