Almost every intro text I have examined, if it deals with the issure at all, says that VR schedules generally produces a higher rate of responding than FR schedules. The one exception is the Myers text which clearly states, in the caption to a figure, that "A predictable (fixed) schedule produces a higher response rate than an unpredictable (variable) schedule." He clearly is including both interval and ratio schedules.

My question: Are all the other texts I checked correct or is Myers the only one to have it right?
