I was starting to get a bit agitated reading some responses to the young child who was biting. Although Nancy is right that the age isn't given, I'll go along with the idea that it is likely to be a toddler.
Beth Benoit's excerpt is pretty right on the money. Toddlers will bite because they don't know what else to do. They do it because they are angry and don't know how to connect language or other action with the feelings of anger they have. I would suggest giving this toddler a heavy dose of "what to do when you're angry." I would suggest some role playing, including things like thumping a pillow against the ground. I would also suggest heavy bibliotherapy (aka books) that talk about being angry and what to do.
