With financial support from the Office of Research Integrity ORI, I have put together an instructional resource titled: "Avoiding plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and other unethical writing practices". In addition to providing extensive coverage of plagiarism and self plagiarism, these pages identify various other questionable writing practices and provide guidelines to avoid them. Once it is finalized sometime later this summer, the resource should be freely available through the ORI's web site.
In writing this instructional resource, I tried to target as wide an audience as possible, thus advanced students, as well as professionals, should find it useful. Also, although much of the background material I relied upon came from biomedical and social sciences sources, individuals engaging in all sorts of scholarly and scientific research should find it relevant. Any comments, suggestions, or any other type of feedback that you can provide me regarding these temporary pages will be greatly appreciated. Please note that when you get to the feedback sections of the paraphrasing exercise there is some bug that causes the text to appear outside of the box. When this happens, it is automatically fixed when you click on the back button and then return to the feedback page by clicking on the forward button. If you have some ideas as to what causes this bug and how it can be fixed, I would appreciate hearing from you.
