I just finished reading Matt Ridley's new book "Nature via Nurture." I think that many of you would enjoy it. Despite the marginal review it received in the New York Times this past weekend (http://www.nytimes.com/2003/07/20/books/review/20RUSELT.html?pagewanted=all&position=) I thought that the book was very well written and that it did a good job of integrating some of the issues in the nature - nurture debate. Ridley is trying to show that thinking in terms of nature OR nurture is misguided and that we should shift our thinking about genes from causal agents to process agents. The only error that I found was in his discussion of Skinner's ideas. I think that the our students would find the book very interesting and accessible.
