Stuart meant this as a private message but I'm happy to reply
publicly. Given the sorry mess I unfortunately entangled her in, Dr.
Carol Ammons, the editor at _Psychological Reports_ ,was great! She
was patient, accommodating, and understanding. My only problem in
dealing with her was that she strongly guards her privacy, and can
only be contacted by regular (snail) mail--no e-mail, no fax, no
telephone. Given Canada Post and cross-border mail, we're talking
delivery time in years, not days. The Review of General Psychology
editor was determined to publish the erratum in the March issue, and
I was determined not to give permission for the mediated solution
without her permission (as RGP had rejected the paper and she had
accepted it). The press deadline loomed. But she did let me know in
time, and I was privileged to receive her response by a telephone
message she left for me. My guess is that this was an an unusual
deviation from her usual policy. I appreciated it.
