There is actually another link between death and IQ. Riegel and Riegel (1972) reported a terminal drop. There was a sudden drop in ability (measure on IQ and other tests) that occurs within 5 years of death.

Actually, thanks to the Flynn effect, the size of the average drop increases over the years... as I recall,
about 5 points per decade. :-)
