Following up on my response to Jim Clark's query regarding a book possibly claiming harm from daycare ( a post which hasn't yet hit TIPS, I see), I found the following:
Langlois, J., and Liben, L. (2003). Child care research: an editorial perspective. Child Development, 74, 969-975 [July/August issue] They published in that issue two studies on the topic, one from the on-going NICHD study I referred to in my earlier post and another, and invited a bunch of commentaries on both (as well as the editorial cited above). It seems that the two studies provide the basis for claims of some degree of harm, although that conclusion is controversial and apparently hotly debated in the commentaries. As Langlois and Liben point out, both studies were correlational. Stephen ___________________________________________________ Stephen L.
