I am amazed at the specificity many seem to be looking for. I find that our students simply have to be reminded of what should go in what section of their report or paper. The writing is generally weak, but I have time in the lab class only to cover major mistakes and apa deviations. When they describe something as statistically significant with p > .05 then I tend to use a lot of red ink. The students are grumbling now because our lab class is only one credit and they did not expect to be doing so much (they have two lab reports). I did have an alumnus who dropped by a few weeks ago to thank me for being picky about writing up her results sections. She is now in grad school and most of the psych students do not know apa format?? so she feels she is ahead of the game. And so it goes...
