Patricia, Hey how are ya??? It was nice to see your name at the end of the email.
Unfortunately, I will only be teaching one course of General Psychology in the spring. If you are still running the study in the fall of next year email me again because it is likely I will be teaching two course of General Psychology then. Nina Nina L. Tarner, Ph.D. Department of Psychology Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania >>> [EMAIL PROTECTED] 11/20/03 12:42 AM >>> Dear TIPSters, As part of a developing and on-going set of studies, I am examining the impact of introducing student learning outcomes (i.e., statements of what students will be able to accomplish at the end of the course) into general psychology courses. As a means of expanding the research, I am looking for instructors who will be teaching two (or more) sections of general psychology in the spring 2004 semester and are interested in participating in this study. The study involves introducing student learning outcomes into the syllabus for one section and leaving them out for the other section that the instructor teaches. Questionnaires and assessment measures are administered three times throughout the semester. A few examples of the types of measures used address learning motivation and approaches, self-assessment of progress and importance of learning outcomes, and attitudes toward the field of psychology. Most of the instruments are completed outside the classroom via online surveys, thus the amount of interruption in the classroom is minimized. I am especially looking for instructors who are new to learning based assessment and/or those who are interested in applying "student learning outcome" techniques into their pedagogy. Please let me know if you are interested and/or would like to learn more about the study. Patricia **************************************************** Patricia A.
