Why use the web at all if you don't need to transmit the data outside the
immediate area? Buy a camera that is compatible with standard TV/VRC
inputs. Most of the small "spy" cameras have adapters or are preprogrammed
for use with standard video.

If you have a little money buy a video security system at an electronics
shop and you get, 4 cameras, Monitor and often a VCR for less than $500
(Sam's club has a 4 camera B&W system for $199 - no VCR).

Subject: Virtual one-way mirror

Hello,

Has anyone set up a virtual one-way mirror in their psychology lab? I've
seen it done with a webcam which streams video to anyone who is connected
to a computer and has the password to the URL. I know how to set up a
password protected page, but I'm wondering how people have dealt with the
huge bandwidth problem. My other concern is how to protect the video
stream from hackers. Video streams are very easy to hack into, and as a
result one can enter a portal and become quite a security concern in the
campus network.

If anyone has set up a virtual one-way mirror I like to gather as much
information as I can about how their system is set up.

The alternative, of course is to get my students to tear down a wall and
put a real one-way mirror in. But I don't think the college would be too
happy about that solution.

Thanks if you can help.
