How likely would you be to continue in a research project after reading the following paragraph of informed consent?
"Your appearance, depiction and/or portrayal in the study may be disparaging, defamatory, embarrassing or of an otherwise unfavorable nature which may expose you to public ridicule, humiliation or condemnation." Not pulling any punches there. I can't imagine too many research participants signing up for a project like that. This is an actual clause from the contract contestants sign before they appear on American Idol (the word "study" is actually "Contest" in the original).
