I imagine most North American TIPSters over the age of about 35 remember
this song from the 1968 version sung ever more and more slowly by HAL the
computer in the film "2001: A Space Odyssey". I wonder what the song's
original author would think if he or she knew that the version most
well-remembered would be by a dying murderous paranoid computer in a
spaceship on the way to Jupiter (or Saturn, if you read the book instead).
