TIPSters--
A student of mine just asked me if maternal emotions during pregnancy have any impact on the temperament of babies when they're born--in other words, do you have to think happy thoughts to have a happy baby?
I told her I certainly didn't think so--that correlations between a mother's mood during pregnancy and the baby's temperament can be explained by the genetic component of temperament as well as the shared mother/child environment--but am wondering if any of you can give any further information? If you know of a good non-academic work on fetal development that I could recommend, that would be great too.
Thanks!
Robin
