Are you interested in the upper and lower limit of frequencies or the spectral
characteristics of the speech produced? Diana Deutsch has done some
interesting
work on the pitch tone profile of speech, which varies both among languages
spoken and among speakers of the same language who are from different
geographic regions.

for relevant information, some data on pitch profiles, some neat
demonstrations, and references.
