I'll second this thought.  The first time I taught Cog, I used Willingham and it was just too in-depth for my students.  (I think it would be a good book for more advanced students, though.)  This time, I used Matlin supplemented with some outside readings from Sacks and others (to bring in case studies).  The students really loved the book.  They thought it was a great blend of theory and application. Marcia McKinley Mt St Mary's University  I think Margaret Matlin's Cognition (6e), published by John Wiley and Sons, is really excellent. She's also a really interesting woman who writes very well.
