Whenever I teach a research methods course, I invite a librarian to conduct

what suggestions do you offer to students who are trying to learn to
identify useful search terms and create effective searches in these data
bases?

I recently convinced my department to make a visit by a librarian (to introduce to use of these sorts of research resources) a compulsory part of *every* section of our methods course, which is required of all students. This resolves a long-standing problem we've had with teachers inviting such presentations on an ad hoc basis: some students never see it during their university career, and others see it two or three times in various courses. Now they will all see it once and only once.
