Hi Carol: I think going over tests is an important
activity. I've always done it and allowed my students
to argue their cases as to why the answer they picked
was correct. What I have found over the years is that
when you ask them what they were thing about when they
picked their answer you find that what you wanted to
call out of their memory bank was actually there. The
problem is often that the way you worded your question
didn't cue up the encode you were looking for. Upon
listening to them explain how they answered the
question, I often give them credit for it. Making up
good test questions is very difficult.
