I disagree with this.  Most non-scientific ideas in psych textbooks remain
in those texts because the authors were trained in ideas prevalent during
the 1950s-1980s, prior to to the flowering of cognitive, evolutionary,
genetic, neuroscientific, and psychoneuroendocrinological perspectives.
