Steven,

Since no one else has responded to your query, I think I will give it a try.
I would be inclined to treat artwork the same way one would reference
Audiovisual media, in particular a motion picture--which is listed on page
256 of the APA Publication Manual (5th ed.). Doing so would allow you to
name the author (painter or creator), year of origination, include the name
of the work and identify it as artwork, give the artwork and country of
origin, and provide the distributor's name and complete address if it is a
reprint.

Another possibility would be to find the artwork online and reference it
that way; however, I believe the my first suggestion meets all the criteria
of a good reference according to APA guidelines. Of course, if someone else
has a better idea, I can learn from it. Be well.

Cheers,

Chuck

Subject: APA format question

Greetings TIPSters,
Would someone provide me with the correct APA citation and reference
format for
artwork (i.e., a painting)?
Thanks in advance,
-S
