If your original question was about attachment theory, then at least the only time I teach anything about that is in intro psych and I don't cover it at all as related to psychoanalytic theory. Instead, I take the approach that someone else mentioned I believe, dealing with the relationships between temperament and attachment and parenting styles. Ultimately this approach is very superficial, as needs be sometimes when teaching for breadth in the intro course so it's not an unusual problem. But it also eliminates the need for any protracted discussion of psychoanalytic interpretations of attachment. Annette Annette Kujawski Taylor, Ph. D.
