Aubyn wrote... What get's you excited about this Jim? (SNIP) Even though the article makes reference to the "power of prayer" there certainly is nothing in these studies that supports that
Jim Wrote... Imagine if studies demonstrated absolutely no difference for religious/non-religious people, praying/not praying. We can all theorize possible reasons beyond God's intervention, but at least we have data to do that with ;) (SNIP) I dunno, seems like there are a number of studies like this. And each time, I keep hearing they prove nothing. Aubyn now writes... I was assuming the limitations of this study were clear. You keep hearing they prove nothing because...well...they prove nothing. There are lots of studies which have failed to find any effect of prayer of course. You still don't have any data on which to theorize "God's intervention". I think the vending machine theory of prayer is bad theology, which is only compounded by bad science. I also think that tying religious belief in any way to this kind of thing only hurts religion and makes it look silly. At a minimum, if you are going to use scientific data to support your faith, you then must be willing to surrender your faith if the data goes the other way. --- You are currently subscribed to tips as: [email protected] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
