Actually, I don't see much difference between atheism--with a belief in
evolution by natural selection as the explanation for species (which seems to be
this fellow's position)--and belief in an intelligent creator of original
life--who then stays completely out of natural affairs including human affairs--
with a belief in evolution by natural selection as the explanation for
species.
After all, we *don't* know how life actually originated, and if it did so
by means of intelligent creation (a being who then is utterly unresponsive to
prayer, stays out of the affairs of the world, etc.) then who cares? It
doesn't really change anything from simple belief in evolution by natural
selection, does it?
If the origin of life is discovered, then people like this fellow, who
claim to believe is science and logic, will change their tune. But in the
mean time, he still believes that all of life after the first spark originated
through evolution by natural selection. So when they say "Famous Atheist
Now Believes in God" it gives a misleading impression.
