FYI tipsters:

I requested info on using the cartoons from the website we've been discussing
and here is their reply. Good news indeed!

If your request to reprint or post a cartoon (Calvin and Hobbes cartoons
can not be used on web pages, on-line, email, internet or intranet - NO
EXCEPTIONS) is for educational classroom use, e.g., elementary, high
school or college. Or as one copy for your personal use, we do not give
written permission.

You may include up to 7 cartoons for the school year, at no charge.

They may be used as overheads or in a syllabus. They may be reprinted on
tests, assignment papers, passed out for sharing during lectures or any
use within the classroom only.

They MAY NOT be used in presentations outside of the classroom, as
handouts for non-student use or in any manner that is not a classroom
setting.

In this case, classroom use refers to public, private, home schooling,
dissertations, thesis papers and other restricted college usage only.
All other use will be charged a permission fee.

All we ask is that no changes, deletions or additions be made to the
cartoon or text. Reprint or post it in it's entirety. Please include the
cartoonists name and the Universal Press Syndicate name in the credit
line.

As long as you do not abuse the permission or the creators work, we are
glad to offer it free of charge.

P.S. We do not have a free site where high resolution art can be
downloaded. I can supply emailed camera-ready tifs from 1996 forward of
most of our cartoons. The cost is $20.00 per cartoon.

Subject: question re: prints

What would be the cost to use a copy for an occasional use for educational
reasons? I don't need an authographed copy. I just want to use the plagiarism
series of 12-7-04 through 12-11-04 for the classroom, with no profit to be
made.
