Johnny Carson was the emperor of comedy and late night TV.
For those tipsters interested in the Psychology of humor
he certainly would the quintessential subject.Watching
Johnny's show was a must for me.His humor was timely,untimely, surprising,silly
and at times positively ambivalentHe knew he was good
in making people laugh. I suspect it was enrichment stimulation for the brain.
Of interest was the observation that he was very shy.As a matter of fact,I
have seen him used as an example to validate the idea that
shyness is inherited. Here are some questions for a Johnny 101
class?
-why and when do we laugh?
- what is so funny about funny?
- if shyness is isolation how can one be shy and yet feel
comfortably in facing a TV audiennce of millions?
(I suspect there might be a compartmentalization of the self there-
personal interactions may be a different communicative style
than facing an audience)
Requiescat in pace!
