Interesting introspection might be to determine if any of your beliefs
stated below continue to persevere in the face of the knowledge that this
was a parody site developed by someone making fun of these people.

This is scary. The linked site below is hard to "believe"!

HEre are some examples:

3. *Engage an evolutionary biologist
<http://home.comcast.net/%7Evanandel1/engage.htm>*
/By distracting a scientist from his or her job, you are slowing down
evolutionary studies /

4. *Be proud of your beliefs!
/By displaying your beliefs, you will inspire others and intimidate the
unfaithful /

5. Encourage evolution backers to resign from school boards
<http://home.comcast.net/%7Evanandel1/shesawitch.htm>/
By ensuring school boards are composed of religious members, fundamental
values will not be eroded /

6. Suggest "change over time" instead of "evolution"
By eliminating the "E" word, you send a subtle cue to teachers and
students that the evolution is not important /

7. Delay the instruction of evolution
<http://home.comcast.net/%7Evanandel1/delaytactics.htm>/
By preventing the teaching of evolution to elementary and middle
schools, students grow up thinking evolution is a sin /

8. *Suggest the use of evolution "disclaimers"
Announcements, stickers, inserts, and bookmarks can be used to deliver
messages to students /

I mean, they are so full of contradictions, it is hard to imagine one
could be fool enough to fall for it! Basically, they seem to be of the
opinion that if you just put your head deeper in the sand, the whole
issue of evolution will simply go away! Wow!

I particularly like point # 4, where they talk about intimidating the
unfaithful. This is scary! I AM intimidated. I am actually very scared!
Could one be further from the message of love that Christianity once
was? It seems that more and more, religion equate intolerence. What a
twisted state of affairs! In my limited knowledge and exposure, I used
to be concerned about fundamentalist muslims (don't they all blow
themselves up to prove a point?). But I have to say that as I hear more
and more about the right Christian wing, I am even more shaken. They
seem much more "dangerous" to me than the radical who blows himself up.
The message is more subtle (although not in this case I have to say).

Lots could be studied with such issues. And no offence to any American
on the list, but from a (biased) Canadian perspective, it seems like the
States are becoming more and more right winged, and the religious groups
seem to be at the helm! Are we looking at a long period of "dark" years
ahead of us? where has the enlightment gone?

Depressing...

succinctness, creativity, and aptness -- with extra consideration being
given to phrases that sound scientific and not overtly religious". I have
just completed covering pseudoscience in my general psych course--but here
on this website I have never seen the hallmarks of pseudoscience so
blatantly and shamelessly laid out. Maybe next semester's discussion...do I
dare?
