Hi Stephen, I can't seem to send this to tips,so its going directly to you. You can use parametirc tests on ordinal data as long as the assumptions of the test are met. SPSS "tests" the homogeneity of variance assumption for you, and you could eyeball the normality assumption - if your samples are roughly normally then the populations are likely to be.
