Maybe I am going batty from reading confused papers--and maybe they know more than I do.
Is a reseach design ever, appropriately, named "cross-sectional" outside of the developmental domain? If a study has a nonmanipulable variable, such as gender, or ability level, is it by definition a quasi-experiment, even if there is a manipulable variable, with random assignment or repeated measures on that second variable?
