I tried to reply to Paul via the list yesterday and was denied because I had made too many contributions for the day :(
But here is another source along those lines: Journal of Personality and Social Psychology 1999, Vol. 77, No. 6, 121-1134 Unskilled and Unaware of It: How Difficulties in Recognizing One's Own Incompetence Lead to Inflated Self-Assessments Justin Kruger and David Dunning Paul and I had a small conversation backchannel about flawed metacognitions and Paul raised the interesting point that there is evidence that people who are poor at something tend to underestimate their performance; whereas people who are good at something tend to overestimate. So with the poor writing skills of students it would seem to be a double whammy: they are not very good at it and have an even harsher self-assessment. Hope you enjoy both articles. Can you provide issue, volume number and year. Thanks. Marie Paul Smith wrote: > Annette Taylor, Ph.
