DRURY UNIVERSITY

 

Drury University seeks a teacher-scholar with strong leadership ability to chair the Department of Behavioral Sciences beginning in July, 2006. The successful candidate will bring vision and energy to leading an interdisciplinary department as it implements an innovative program that engages students in original research. The department consists of nine full-time tenure-track faculty and offers undergraduate majors in psychology, criminology, criminal justice, and sociology. It also offers an M.A./M.S. in Criminology/Criminal Justice.

 

Drury is a mid-sized private institution with over 4,900 students, including 1,600 traditional full-time students, and 3,400 evening and satellite students and 400 graduate students. As a member of the Associated New American Colleges, Drury is dedicated to the integration of liberal and professional studies and serving a diverse population. It maintains the values of its founding as a liberal arts college through an emphasis on excelling in teaching and a model of the faculty member as teacher-scholar. Drury is located in Springfield, Missouri, a city of 150,000 people in the heart of the Ozarks, offering excellent cultural and recreational opportunities.

 

The Chair must have a Ph.D. in psychology, and will have the opportunity to teach courses within his or her discipline. Preference will be given to candidates who have an interest in teaching research methods and/or statistics.
