We did a facebook-usage research project in my methods class this semester, and I got an account while we were designing a questionnaire.

A bunch of students signed me up as their "friends," so I don't t know that they feel it's an invasion of their privacies.  But as a tool to learn names/faces, I think it's problematic.  The images on many pages are not exactly "representative" of that student's appearance.

Do any of you use facebook to learn more about your students?

I was considering using it next semester to try and more quickly memorize names, yet somehow I feel like I'm invading their privacy.

Any feedback would be appreciated

Thanks
