I thought the same thing - a "DUH" moment
- but further details revealed that since he knew he had lost his student
visa because of his failing grade, he took his despair out on the
professor who failed him. Well, he will certainly not be returning to
India now, and will be staying in Massachusetts for a long, long time, though
not as a student.

Here's an update on the stabbing of Mary
Elizabeth Hooker, a professor at UMass Lowell:
Which
begins: "A 22-year-old student from the University of Massachusetts at
Lowell accused of attacking a ''favorite" teacher with a kitchen knife last
week in a dispute over a failing grade might have been concerned about being
deported to his native India, officials said."
And he thought that
attempting to KILL his teacher would make that LESS likely? Sounds like a
good "critical thinking skills" course is in order (to start with). --
