Let's see...
Let X = how many students do you have who could potentially qualify for
this "prize".
Let Y = how much each laptop would cost
Let Z = the amount of your income which exceeds your operational
definition of being "broke"
multiply X and Y; subtract this value from Z. If the difference is
positive, the answer is "no"; if it is negative, the answer is "yes".
